NLCGA Addresses LPG Cylinder Concerns, Debunks Viral Video

The Nigerian Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association (NLCGA) has clarified misconceptions surrounding a viral video that raised concerns about the safety of LPG cylinders. The video, which caused panic among LPG users, suggested that certain cylinders in circulation were substandard and posed significant risks.

In a press release, the NLCGA debunked these claims, reassuring Nigerians of the rigorous safety standards adhered to in the manufacturing and certification of LPG cylinders. According to the association, the video was misleading and lacked factual basis. "We urge the public to rely on verified information and avoid panic caused by unverified content," the statement read.

The NLCGA emphasized that all LPG cylinders distributed in Nigeria undergo stringent quality checks and are certified by relevant regulatory bodies, including the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON). The association also advised users to ensure proper maintenance and servicing of their cylinders to enhance safety.

Furthermore, the NLCGA reiterated its commitment to consumer safety, highlighting ongoing collaborations with stakeholders to promote awareness and education on the safe handling and usage of LPG. Plans are underway to launch a nationwide sensitization campaign to address common misconceptions and provide guidance on best practices for LPG usage.

The association also warned against the circulation of unverified information, noting that such actions could undermine public confidence in LPG as a reliable and safe energy source. "We encourage the public to report any concerns or suspicious activities related to LPG cylinders to the appropriate authorities," the statement concluded.
