FG Unveils Locally Assembled CNG Buses for Airport Shuttle Services

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially launched a fleet of locally assembled Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to enhance airport shuttle services across the country. This initiative, which aligns with Nigeria's drive toward cleaner energy solutions, is expected to revolutionize the transportation sector by reducing carbon emissions and operational costs.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, key government officials highlighted the economic and environmental benefits of adopting CNG-powered vehicles. The buses, designed to provide efficient and eco-friendly transportation for travelers, are part of a broader plan to transition Nigeria's public transportation system from fossil fuels to alternative energy sources.

The project is being spearheaded by the Ministry of Transportation in collaboration with local vehicle manufacturers and energy companies. Officials noted that the initiative would not only cut down on greenhouse gas emissions but also reduce Nigeria's dependence on petrol and diesel imports, thus conserving foreign exchange.

In addition to improving airport shuttle services, the government plans to expand the use of CNG buses to other public transportation networks, including intercity routes. Stakeholders have praised the initiative, emphasizing its potential to stimulate local manufacturing, create jobs, and promote sustainable development in Nigeria.

This move underscores Nigeria's commitment to meeting global environmental standards while addressing local transportation challenges. Travelers can look forward to a more sustainable and cost-effective commuting experience as the CNG buses begin operations.
