Presidency Vows Accountability for Allocated Resources in 2025

The Nigerian presidency has issued a stern warning to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), emphasizing that they will be held accountable for resources allocated to them in the 2025 fiscal year. This directive underscores the administration's commitment to transparency, efficiency, and the prudent management of public funds.

In a statement delivered by the presidency, it was highlighted that the era of unchecked expenditures and lack of accountability is over. MDAs are now required to provide detailed reports on how allocated funds are utilized, ensuring alignment with the government's developmental objectives. This measure is part of broader reforms aimed at curbing corruption and fostering trust in public institutions.

"Every naira allocated must be accounted for. We will not tolerate any mismanagement or diversion of resources meant for the Nigerian people," the presidency declared. The directive further mandates MDAs to adopt modern financial management tools and adhere to the Public Procurement Act to ensure transparency in their operations.

Analysts have welcomed the move, noting that it could significantly improve service delivery and infrastructure development if properly implemented. However, they also cautioned that robust monitoring mechanisms and punitive measures must be in place to deter non-compliance.

As Nigeria enters 2025, this renewed focus on accountability is expected to enhance public sector performance and contribute to the nation's economic recovery and growth.
